Fairgrounds Speedway Late Model 200 Postponed

Due to heavy rain, the Fairgrounds Speedway Late Model 200 has been postponed until next Saturday, May 23. The race will not run on Sunday, May 16, as originally planned.

Fairgrounds Speedway Pre-Qualifying Notes

  • A decision regarding tonight's activities will be made by 5 p.m.
  • Practice has been delayed by rain, but tonight's activities will still go on as scheduled.
  • Several new competitors are in town for tonight's Late Model 200.

Sterling Marlin will be driving the #40 car for the first time this year.

Already a winner in Supertrucks, Daniel Bolden is making is first start of the season.

Baker-Curb crewmember Tommy Joe Martins is making his first Late Model start of 2009.

Late Model 200 This Weekend


Sterling Marlin, NASCAR star and two-time Daytona 500 winner will be competing on the .596 asphalt oval as he battles former Fairgrounds competitor and NASCAR driver Casey Atwood. Marlin’s son, Steadman, will also be dueling for the Late Model win against his father and current track champion, Andy Johnson. Tommy Jo Martin, highly-touted young developmental driver for Baker-Curb Racing will go up against the veterans in the Late Model Series in the first of three 200-lap events scheduled for the 2009 season at the Fairgrounds Speedway!

If rain disrupts the activities on Saturday, the Fairgrounds Speedway will resume racing on Sunday, May 17, using the same timetable as for Saturday.
